Vineyards
Horseshoe Bend Vineyard is located on Occidental Road and was planted in 1996 in goldridge / Sebastopol series soil from rootstock 1-114, Dijon clone 113 and Cordon pruned.
The vineyard is on a south facing slope farmed and planted by the owners.
Winemaking
Grapes were hand picked and sorted September 27th.
Cold soaked for seven days and then allowed to warm up and start fermentation.
We did manual punch down three times daily until the wine was dry, fermentation lasted twelve days.
Then the wine was pressed off into barrel and was allowed to go through Malolactic fermentation.
It was lightly sulphured and left on the lees until bottle preparation.
The wine was carefully racked and bottled after 11 months in the barrel.
Winemaker's Notes
This first time designate Pinot Noir is a bright earthy complex wine.
A lot of cherry fruit that lingers on the palate.
